Dan Lipinski's Views Too Liberal for the Voters

Third Congressional District Republican candidate Arthur Jones, charged incumbent Democratic congressman Dan Lipinski with holding positions that he said were "too liberal for the voters of the third district."

Jones said in researching Lipinski's voting records, he was both "shocked" and "amazed" at what he found. According to Jones, "Lipinski received a rating of 30% conservative from the magazine THE NEW AMERICAN, while the extremely liberal organization, AMERICANS for DEMOCRATIC ACTION, rated him 85% liberal.

According to Jones, Lipinski, while new to the political scene in Washington, D.C. has already gained a reputation as a Democratic liberal. On numerous issues such as gun control, legal reform, the war in Iraq, foreign aid, health care, or social security reform - "the record shows Dan Lipinski not even voting! Which is incredibly irresponsible," said Jones.

"But, "continued Jones, "on the issues he really cares about - such as civil rights legislation, he voted with the NAACP 87% of the time and on the issue of Gay Rights, Lipinski voted against passing House Joint Resolution 106 - the Marriage Protection Amendment."

"This resolution was a proposal to pass a constitutional amendment defining marriage as only between a man and woman. Dan Lipinski is on record as voting against the Marriage Protection Amendment. And that is about as radical Left as you can be," concluded Jones.

Jones said his sources were non-partisan organizations from both the left and the right of the political spectrum. "If you get the same voting records from different groups, then you can be pretty certain, those records must be reporting what Lipinski did or didn't vote for," said Jones.
