AFL-CIO - "Family Reunification" To those who have told me they are good Union supporters and only the Democrats support Unions, take a look at what your Union dues are supporting! This is part of a long series of questions sent to me by the state AFL-CIO as a candidate for Congress. And my reply to those questions. "The AFL-CIO has a long-standing commitment to the family reunification principles on which our current immigration laws are based. We also believe in providing refuge for those fleeing persecution, as well as insuring compassionate and humane treatment and due process of law for all people who enter, the United States illegally." "The AFL-CIO supports retention of the current family visa categories and numbers, and opposes efforts to make it easier for employers to recruit foreign workers to avoid the expense of retraining resident workers or citizen workers. We support fair hearings for asylum seekers, and oppose a cap on refugee admissions. And we believe that establishing a national database to verify the identity, employment and benefit eligibility of every person in the U.S. will only exacerbate the discrimination effects of sanctions imposed on employers who hire undocumented workers." My Reply: Once again, in my opinion you are subverting the cause of American labor by supporting open-ended immigration both legal and illegal. It is not the job of the AFL-CIO to reunify the families of Aliens, or to see to it once an alien arrives here, he or she can take a job that should go first to American workers. It makes no sense to support policies that rob American workers of their jobs. And I am sure the majority of your members would agree with me on that. Did you know you were supporting the importation of illegal aliens and their families with your Union dues? So, BOTH Big Capital and Big Labor, in the Republican and Democratic Parties, are working TOGETHER TO DESTROY THE AMERICAN WORKER! |
